Articles of Faith

Initial Salvation Doctrine
Articles of faith are for people of this faith who choose to live by these articles by free choice.
they are in no way ever to be forced upon any people.

  • We firmly believe that mankind must repent from sin, be born again of water and Spirit (Acts 2:38, John 3:3-5) and remaining in the New Testament doctrines in order to make it into heaven.
Scriptural basis for this follows and our texts are taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
    John
3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the secondtime into his mother's womb, and be born?
3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
    Mark
16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
    16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Further scriptural references can be found in the Book of Acts and in the Epistles relation to the rebirth experience i.e. Acts 10:44-48, 19:1-7.

  • Initial Evidence of Receiving the Holy Ghost
We firmly believe that speaking on other languages or tongues as the initial evidence of a person receiving the Holy Ghost.
Gifts of the Holy Ghost follow afterward as do the fruits of the Spirit of God.
    Mark
    16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
    Acts
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Holiness Standards of Living

  • Hebrews
12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

With the above said, we endeavor to treat other Oneness Pentecostal organizations and Independent Oneness Pentecostals with peace and kindness. We do allow ministers of the Oneness Pentecostal faith to hold credentials with other organizations of the same faith. Regarding those of other faiths... we will work to keep peace with other faiths but we will not be a part of ecumenical movements, one world, new world order, Catholic faiths, or Protestant faiths. Our faith is distinctly different in doctrine, Spirit, and appearance. We DO NOT approve of any of our good people taking part in secret societies, occults, witchcraft, devil worship, demonology, necromancy, astrology, fortune telling, or soothe saying.

  • Titus
2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

  • The Holiness Pentecostal Movement does not approve of our people being involved activities not conducive to Christian living. Theatre going, watching Hollywood & ungodly movies on television, computers, VCRs etc. are not approved of by this organization. We do not approve of our people having television in their homes since our society has it in most public sectors and that Hollywood and other liberal media stands against Christian values, Screens or monitors used for work or business use would be the exception.
Family values, and American values. We disapprove of our people being involved in dances unless dancing in the Spirit in worship and praise unto God in church and elsewhere. Frequenting bars / taverns / saloons / nightclubs is not approved. Mixed swimming in public places is not approved.

  • Ladies cutting or trimming their hair, wearing make-up, any clothing that immodestly exposes the body and wearing of jewelry is not approved. Men are to be modest in their clothing, clean cut, no long hair, above the collar length hair is acceptable and no jewelry too. Worldly organized sports amusements and
professional sports are not approved for us to be involved in. Church activities and sports are approved.

  • Unwholesome radio programs and music are not approved of. Hymns, Gospel Music, Church Music, Instrumental Music is fine or approved. "Christian Rock", "Christian Rap" and the like are not conducive to pleasurable listening and is too close to much the sinful world many people leave behind when coming to The Lord Jesus and is not considered good for us to listen to. Many of those bands still dress and groom themselves immodestly.

Mark of the Beast / Marking the Body / Implants / Injections, Vaccines or any Medical Procedure

  • We firmly reject any implanting of tracking devices, computer chips which retain private data and enable commerce in the stead of
using cash and other forms of commerce. We refuse specifically any mark of the beast, or number of his name i.e. 666 or name of a man
being implanted or placed upon our people ANYWHERE upon the human body. THESE MARKS AND IMPLANTS ARE FULLY REJECTED BY GOD, THE HOLINESS PENTECOSTAL MOVEMENT, IT'S CHURCHES, IT'S MINISTERS AND MEMBERS. We are against our people attempting to
mark or deface the human body as we believe it is the Temple of God in which God's Spirit can abide. Tattoos are also not a good thing for the body. Injections, Vaccines or any Medical Procedure that violates our Articles of Faith are forbidden, Medical experimentation against a person's will is also forbidden and is a violation of the Nuremberg Code and the U.S. Constitution.

  • Scriptural proof: Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

  • Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. By choice we will not take the mark of the Beast.

Church Governments Sovereign
Ministries and churches are to join us in this same faith thus reducing the need for interfering with local churches. We respect the abilities of local churches to govern themselves and embrace unity in the faith as a fellowship. Growth of churches and various ministries to save souls is our main goal.

Women and Ministry
We do not license women for ministry or place them into pastoral or formal ministerial positions. There are no women pastors found in the NT. Women are encouraged to be of support to their husbands, to their local churches and respective works. There are many biblical leadership and heroic roles women have played in history. Our women are considered equal in the scriptural sense to the man as husband and wife are to be one.

Tithes & Offerings
We encourage ministers to tithe their income and put it to use in their respective ministries. We wish not to place undue financial burdens upon ministers and their families. Some organizations require tithing of ministry to go toward the administration of the organization, we do not require this. Should ministers, and their churches wish to give free will offerings to the organization and to various fundraisers this is encouraged. Again offerings will be at the discretion of the givers. Local ministries can give sacrificial / selfless offerings of funds, goods and property but please remember to take care of local ministries and outreaches. We encourage saints to support in tithe and offerings their ministers and ministries.

Backsliders
Backsliders are encouraged to come back to God and be restored. There are too many Old Testament and New Testament examples of people being restored who truly repented. It has been said, using scripture, that the backslider cannot be restored. After due diligent study, the scriptures showing restoration outnumber the scriptures showing otherwise. In conclusion, I have found that it is impossible to restore the unrepented. I have seen backsliders restored personally.

Holidays
We encourage Christians to avoid Pagan holidays and local churches are empowered in their respective governments in how to address these issues. A balance can be struck without destroying peace amongst others. Study of Holidays and their origins is encouraged.

The New Testament

The New Testament is the overriding guideline of the Church.

Avoiding the "Sectarian Cycle"

In order to preserve the rights of the people of the Holiness Pentecostal Movement to continue in sound doctine, the people are free to admonish ministry to return to the doctrines of these Articles of Faith if ministry leave doctrines outlined in this written Articles of Faith for the Holiness Pentecostal Movement. The people are free to join the organization to live by this faith or leave the organization at free will.

Swearing Under Oaths or Affirmations

Members of the Holiness Pentecostal Movement International reserve the right under the First Amendment of the US Constitution for freedom of religion and under biblical scriptures to not swear an oath affirmation in court on the Bible or to a country or any other entity public or private.

Should a Christian Swear an Oath (Matthew 5:33)?

The answer is that they should not! The Bible is very clear on this point: "But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No,' lest you fall into judgment" (James 5:12).

Jesus Himself said, "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one" (Matthew 5:34-37).

This scriptural instruction is not meant to imply that oaths by themselves are sin. To emphasize that we mortal human beings are often powerless to fulfill even our strongest intentions, God commands us not to swear by His name in any oath. Failing to fulfill an oath would be taking God's name in vain, breaking the third commandment (Exodus 20:7).

Therefore, a Christian should simply say "Yes" or "No," according to what one honestly believes to be true, even in legal matters. Truly, this should be a sufficient guarantee of honesty from any man. What a shame men must swear an oath to be truthful!

The law of the United States permits affirmation, that is, saying "Yes" or "No"—without raising the hand to swear.
